about

I’m a software developer who lives in Melbourne, FL. I like to eat, drink beer, and when I find the time, write about local restaurants (UrbanSpoon) … oh and I code for fun quite frequently.

The name for my blog comes an poignant story from my undergrad days, working as a research assistant. One of the students I worked with was a pretty intense guy. He was acing all of his classes, was always coding, and ate whenever he remembered to do so. When he did eat it was usually junk food and a lot of it. One memorable day my professor and his research assistants were all siting around talking about their weekend. When it came to this one guy, he gave us the same response he gave us every time we got together, “I stayed home, hacked, and pigged out.” After what seemed to be much frustration at constantly hearing this response, my professor bursted out saying, “There is more to life than cookies and code!” This message has always lived in the back of my head to help remind me to find balance in my life when that little voice in my head says, “Let’s go pig out and program.” Since I’m always searching for this balance, I thought, why not start a blog to talk about the vices I try to avoid. I hope enjoy reading my catharsis.
